Sunlit Memories Blog

Everyday is a Sunlit Memory a forever keepsake of those special moments that take your breath away

Guardian of the Gate had visitors

Its amazing after blogging yesterday about my beautiful tree that guards our front gate , leaving for an errand I am confronted with an array of white tail black cockatoos.  There was hundreds of them all up and down the road leading to our gate.

The weather is changing

The screaches of the birds could be heard from far away and it was hard to see where they all were but to my delight there was a good number of them sitting chatting loudly in my beautiful tree at Rainbow Farms front gate.  This was a joy for the old tree to be so full of life for even just a short time and it is not uncommon for me to drive out and see a different species of bird in its magestic branches each trip and sometimes even two different bird types.  I long for a bigger telescopic lense to be able to get up to those high branches and capture in all the glory those birds as they chat to the tree and can see every direction to decide their next flight.

Seeing this beautiful sight and the rain that was hanging in the air just waiting to come was also a sign of things to come.  When the rain starts to come around so does the beautiful white tailed and occasionally red tailed black cockatoos.  It says that autumn is here and winter is on the way the joy of green grass to replenish the brown landscape.  Also it marks the time for rainbows to return to Rainbow farm the excitement of seeing the sun after the rain and running round the farm house looking in every direction to see where the rainbow is today and the anticipation and excitement of finding it but not knowing if it will last long enough for a beautiful lasting memory to be taken.

Sigh.. the rain did fall late afternoon and into the night probably not enough to keep us from having to buy water very shortly but it was great to cool things down.

Well unfortunately the flow has been lost amongst children saying I’m hungry and phone calls I will leave you all to envision the beauty of the rainbow’s to come and the beautiful green landscape.

Enjoy your weekend everyone and don’t forget to stop and enjoy the scenery.

Living on Rainbow Farm with my two beautiful children and fur baby Billy in Busselton, Western Australia provides me with stunning sunrise and sunsets and the beauty of Australia's flora and fauna. I hope to bring just a little bit of inspiration, healing and lots of sunshine to your day.

  2. Beautiful photos. No cockatoos up here, they knew it wasn’t going to rain properly. Smart birds that they are 🙂
